Thousand Year Trust

In mid 2024 I started what I hope will be a long term project to document a British Rainforest on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall after GoodWorks introduced me to Thousand Year Trust founders Merlin and Lizzie Hanbury-Tenison. They are on a mission to restore Britain's rainforests which once covered 20% of the British Isles starting with their own project Cabilla Valley. Some images from my first visit are on the website.

Prints available on ARTFINDER

A nest is a home that has finished its course yet it remains a strong metaphor for family and care of the young. I often find these wile roaming around the woods near our own home in Bagnone where we brought up our own brood long ago before moving to other nests around the world.

They were photographed on a Leica Monochrom and are printed for longevity on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Cotton Rag Paper using Ultrachrome inks.

Newsletter #001_230607

Hello everyone, and apologies for the delay in welcoming you to the new website.

Last September, I received a message on IG that I thought was from Meta, but it turned out to be a skillful hack by a Kenyan gang. It took a lot of effort and calling in favors to regain access to my own profile.

Finally, I am back on social media this week, and it feels like the right time to send out my first newsletter. I plan to make this a regular occurrence, keeping you updated on my work, whereabouts, and website. If you prefer not to receive it, feel free to unsubscribe at the bottom.

I recently posted a series of images capturing the excitement of Mexican wrestling, known as lucha libre, shot in Guadalajara in February 2022. It was an mad night with masked hairy men in leather and leotards, along with my son-in-law. If you ever find yourself in Guadalajara on a Tuesday night with nothing to do, you can give it a try. My trusty Leica monochrome, which performs so well in low light, allowed me to immerse myself in the action. Some stunning museum-quality giclée prints are on their way to clients in Asia and the US, and there are still a few prints available from the limited edition of 8.

This week, I also began shooting the first interview for a new project that I am tentatively titling "Fatherless Fathers." It aims to explore the lessons our children teach us that our parents didn't. Andrea, our Jiu Jitsu sensei at Milanimal, shared his touching story with me and it was a privilege to spend time with him and his son, Miguel. I look forward to sharing some of this work soon.

If you haven't already, please take a moment to visit the website and explore some of my new work. You can also check out the gallery page for available prints. Lastly, if you think my work might interest a colleague or friend, please consider forwarding this email to them so they can subscribe on the website and receive future newsletters.

Prints available.

"La Lucha" series is now available in 2 sizes for loud and roaring walls. The series is limited to 8 prints. Gallery link to purchase.

Oscillazioni 2023, Pontremoli

Re:VISIT is a family show as part of Oscillazioni festival. In an unloved abandoned historical apartment we recreate the feeling of a family home with some of the familiar pieces, a bed, a highchair a few items on a mantlepiece and a film projected on a loop. A few large unmounted prints  from the family archive adorn the rough walls, the double bed covered by a patchwork quilt of family photographs as a centrepiece. A picture of the family at  our stillborn's grave is the only framed image, precariously placed under a delicate glass etched wall lamo. Phoebe's film about mum is on loop and Italo 3d pieces from live scans of his parents are placed on a windowsill.

In Cerca Della Retta Via / In search of a path

"In one way or another, we are all in search of the path that is right for us; of a way of life that allows us to feel in balance and in harmony with the people and things which surrounds us.

There are well beaten paths and marked roads and dirt roads to the unknown; we can change direction at an intersection or we can venture and search for one.

The possibilities are endless but the way our own."
